One by one, forced to their knees as he slit their throats and gouged out their eyes. And the duke, who was to be her husband, the Emperor bade his terrible beasts to gorge on his flesh. Then the bloody Emperor made Nerys his wife and stole her away to the Shining Palace in the cursed mountains to the north. It is said that she cried tears of blood that day as she looked upon the severed heads of her kin and that she uttered not a word nor ever smiled again. Poor Empress Nerys Reine, who shall never know joy or kindness for the rest of her time.
